Description
A plaster mold impression of a baluster from an iron balcony. The plaster mold is painted black at the top and white on the bottom. It is mounted with two (2) wires on a painted green wooden board with screw holes at each corner. At the top of mold is a black fleur-de-lis and below is an ornate fruit design in black and white painted plaster that includes persimmons, grapes, peaches, and figs, intertwined with leaves. At the bottom of the mold is an exposed piece of metal wire. Handwritten on one of the black painted figs in white paint is the text [R398]. Affixed below the mold with four (4) metal mounting brackets is a white label with black, handwritten text in a black frame. The text reads [PLASTER MOLD / Impression / Part of Iron Balcony / Near / Natchez Mississippi / Property – OLD SLAVE MART / MUSEUM / 1948]. On the back of the board are two (2) sets of twisted metal wires holding the top and bottom of the plaster mold to the board.
