- Description
- A brass bed warmer. The bed warmer has an elongated handle and a round container covered with a finely decorated and perforated lid. The shaft of the handle is square straight and at the top is an ornate brass handle with a ball tip and a drilled hole at the end. The pan itself is brass, rounded, plain and has a wide lip. It is attached at the lip to the handle with a rivet that has been welded into place. The lid covers the entire pan and is rounded on top and held in place with a hinge. One half of the hinge has seven (7) rivets and has been soldered to the lid and the other half is attached to the handle shaft with two (2) rivets. The top of the lid is decorated with small perforations forming a large center circle, scalloped edges, and a single perforation in the middle of the circle. The lid has been decorated with incised hatch marks, daisies, half daisies, berries, and leaf designs, arranged in circular geometric patterns. On the underside of the handle, near the rivet, is a painted white rectangle with handwritten black text that reads [R293].
