- Description
- A color photograph of Lusia Harris playing basketball for team USA against Czechoslovakia in the 1976 Summer Olympic Games. Harris is depicted in profile, mid-jump, with both arms raised above her head and the ball at the tips of her fingers. Her legs are straight, with her feet slightly wider than her hips. Her uniform jersey, shorts, and socks are white, with thin navy and red stripes around the edges and socks. There is a navy and red “USA” partially visible on the leg of the shorts. Harris is surrounded by three players on the Czechoslovakian team, all dressed in blue short-sleeved uniforms with wide red and white stripes at the edges. Directly behind her, number “10” leans back away from Harris’ jump, while two other players stand in front of Harris, one facing the camera and number “9” with her back to the camera. The players are pictured in the orange painted free throw lane, with the out of bounds area painted green behind them and the wooden court to the right of them. Behind the players, a black movable barrier cordons off the court from the spectators, who sit in folding chairs at the same level as the court. A young man in white pants and an off-white shirt kneels just behind the back line, watching the players. In the background, a woman sits in a chair just behind the back line, in front of spectators seated at court level on folding chairs.
