- Description
- Board with two photos of Goodwin's Cleaners & Dyers, San Diego, California.
- .2a One side of the board has a photograph of a man inside a truck on the street in front of a dry cleaning shop. Both the shop and the truck have signs reading [GOODWIN’S / CLEANERS & DYERS]. The man sits in the driver’s seat of the truck, his proper left elbow on the open window frame, looking directly at the camera. To the right of the driver’s door is an extra tire on a rack. On the side of the truck, appearing inside the tire, is [16th & E Sts.] The storefront has two large display windows on either side of the front door. A sign in the corner of right-side window reads [SUITS / SPONGED & PRESSED]. To the right of Goodwin’s, a second storefront is partially visible, with signs on the exterior reading [GENERAL REPAIRING] and [USED / CARS / FOR / SALE]. The photograph is held in a brown paper frame that is adhered to the board. At the bottom right corner of the frame is raised text reading [THE STEINBACH STUDIO / SAN DIEGO, CAL.].
- .2b The other side of the board has a photograph with a wider view of the same truck in front of Goodwin’s Cleaners & Dyers. This view shows the full exterior of the shop on the left, with the unoccupied truck at the right. Signs on both the side and front of the shop read [GOODWIN’S / CLEANERS & DYERS]. A small United States flag is at the top of the right display window. Just visible to the left of the shop a dwelling is set back from the street with a front yard with various plantings. There is also a small curbside ornamental planting with an agave plant. Next to this planting is a standing sidewalk sign advertising [CLEANING / DYEING / AND / REPAIRING / SPONGED & PRESSED / 50]. To the right of the storefront is a doorway with closed double wooden doors. Further to the right and behind the truck, the exterior of the garage business next door is partially visible. The photograph is adhered directly to the board with no marks or inscriptions.
