- Description
- Cabinet card of Co. G 25th Regiment Buffalo Soldier. The portrait of the soldier shows him looking toward the left of the image. The image fades toward the bottom to white. He is wearing a uniform with two square pins on each side of his jacket lapel. He is wearing a slouch hat with a pin in the center. The pin has two crossed rifles with [25] on top and [G] on bottom signifying he was in the 25th regiment, Company G. There is a white border around the photograph. At the bottom of the photograph in decorative script is the photographer's name, [Buchholz & Son / SPRINGFIELD, MASS.]. The back of the cabinet card is heavily decorated. Two women are drawn in Grecian dresses on the right of the image. The woman in the front sits holding paintbrushes and a pallet. She is leaning against a camera and holding a floral wreath in her other hand. The woman in the back is holding portfolios and reaching up with her hand to grab a flower off the vine. On the top right, is a decorative [B] with scrollwork surrounding it. Underneath is the photographer's name and information, [Buchholz & Son / ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPHY / SPRINGFIELD, MASS. / NEAGTIVES KEPT. / COPIES CAN BE HAD].
