- Photographic carte-de-visite of Richard T. Greener, who in 1870 became the first African American graduate of Harvard College. Underneath the photo is the subject's name, [R.T. Greener / Boston / Mass]. Greener is in the center of the card as a portrait ending at his chest and fading to white. He is looking toward the left of the image. He is wearing a jacket and bowtie. On the verso is the photographer's information at the center, [MARSHALL, / PHOTOGRAPHER, / Studio Building, / Cor. Tremont & Bromfield Sts., / BOSTON.]. Above is a blue 2 cent stamp with an image of George Washington. On top of the stamp is another photographer's stamp that reads, [MARSHALL / JUL / 1865 / POST].
