Description
US Army uniform peaked cap worn by Charles J. Blackwood during World War II. The main body of the hat is made of olive wool. It has a 2 inch flat leather bill in the front with a metal insignia of the United States Army in gold above. The bottom of the cap has a 1 3/4 inch wide green textured fabric border with a leather seam. A leather chin strap rests on the flat bill and surrounds the entire hat on the textured green border. It is attached to the body of the hat with two medal buttons with the United States seal image. The inside of the cap has a 2 inch leather border and a bright orange top. A small fabric bow rests where the edges of the leather meet at the back of the cap. Under the orange material the maker's mark reads, [B / BROOKS / CALIFORNIA / UNIFORM DEP'T].
