- Description
- A printing plate from the first page of Detroit Free Press Section E for April 13, 1981. The plate is dominated by an image of Joe Louis on a boxing stance with the caption ['And still / heavyweight / champion of / the world']. The top of the plate is titled [Joe Louis 1914-1981] and directs readers to different pages for reporting on "RING RECORD," "THE PEOPLE REMEMBER," "SCHMELLING FIGHTS," and "THREE WHO KNEW HIM". The plate is held in a frame by metal points, and there is no glass or acrylic glazing protecting the plate. The back of the frame is fiberboard held in place by metal points.
