- Description
- A carte-de-visite depicting two (2) men standing arm-in-arm, facing the viewer. An unidentified white man is depicted on the left and an unidentified black man is depicted on the right. The man on the left is wearing a three piece suit with a dark suit jacket and matching medium toned pants and vest. He is also wearing a white dress shirt and a dark western style tie. His proper left arm is linked through the arm of the man on the right. He is holding a banded boater hat in his proper left hand at waist level and is resting on a cane held in his proper right hand. The man on the right is wearing a suit with a dark jacket, light pants, light vest, and a white shirt. He holds a black hat in his proper left hand by his side. The verso is white. In the center is a black ink depiction of a three (3) story building with a storefront on the street level and a banner sign at the top that reads [Rees & Co. Photographic Artists] in block white text. People are depicted strolling on the street in front of the building. Below is the name of the company and date printed in black ink that reads [C. R. Rees & Co. / Richmond Va. / 1868] with the top and second lines accented with flourishes and the bottom line divided with leaf pattern scrolls. Handwritten in pencil at the top is the text [7790 / 3 dup].
