Description
A black-and-white photograph of a homeless veteran, Gavino Bantocino, in San Francisco by Eli Reed. In the center of the image, Bantocino is resting on a low blanket covered mattress. He is wearing glasses, a dark coat over a pattered shirt, tan pants, white socks with a stripe, and dark shoes. He has his ankles crossed and his proper right hand resting on his chest. A bag with bottles and other materials is sitting behind the man’s knees. Light is reflected in the upper right and falls across Bantocino. There is a mattress with an ornamental circular and flower pattern resting against the undecorated back wall. A tall, dark plank is leaning on the mattress. On the left, ragged towels are hanging from a line. There are dark shapes in shadow below the towels. The photograph is matted and the reverse is not visible.
