Description
A black-and-white photograph of Disc Jockey Bill “Hawk” Hawkins with an unidentified woman and two unidentified men inside a pharmacy. A man and woman stand at the center of the photograph holding two identical, novelty sized bottles of P.O.C. Pilsner Beer. They are flanked on the left by an unidentified man, and on the right by Bill Hawkins. The man at the center is wearing a white pharmacist’s smock with medium-toned trousers. He is holding one of the novelty sized P.O.C. bottles in front of him, cradling the bottle’s shoulder in his proper right hand and supporting the bottom of the bottle with his proper left hand. The woman next to him is wearing a dark dress with white polka dots. She is holding the other novelty sized P.O.C. bottles in front of her, cradling the neck of the bottle with her proper left hand and the bottom of the bottle with her proper right hand. The bottle labels have a wide metallic banner, on a slight diagonal, across the center. Printed inside are white letters, outlined in black that read [P.O.C.]. Above the center banner is a small shield shaped graphic with the letters [P.O.C.] printed diagonally across the front. To the right of the shield is white text that reads [A famous beer since 1892]. Below the center banner is a horizontal scroll with white text that reads [PILSNER BEER]. [---?] Exclusively by the Pilsner Brewing Company of Cleveland, Ohio]. The unidentified man on the far left is wearing a dark suit, white collared shirt, a dark bowtie, and a white pocket square. He is facing the viewer, smiling, and both of his arms are resting at his sides. Bill Hawkins stands on the far right with his body turned slightly towards the left edge of the photograph. He is wearing a medium-toned suit, white collared shirt, a patterned tie, and a white pocket square. His head is turned towards the viewer and he is smiling. His proper left elbow is bent and he is holding his hand by his waist. The group is standing inside a pharmacy, in front of stacked cases of P.O.C. Pilsner. Behind the boxes is a tall pharmacist counter and shelves lined with medicine bottles, soap, facial tissues, D.D.T., and wallpaper cleaner. On the counter is a white sign with varying sized text and fonts that reads, [PRESCRIPTIONS / [ex?]pertly compounded / by a registered pharmacist / EX-LAX / THE CHOCOLATE LAXATIVE / for gentle, effective relief]. In the bottom right corner is the photographer’s mark in white text that reads [PHOTO BY / Patrick]. The photograph has a white border and a landscape orientation. The back of the photograph is white and plain with yellowed tape residue along the bottom edge.
