Simone Manuel wore this suit at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she won two gold and two silver medals. Manuel became the first African American woman to win an individual Olympic gold medal in swimming when she tied for gold with Canadian Penny Oleksiak in the 100-meter freestyle. Her win set an Olympic record and an American record. She also won gold in the 4x100-meter medley, and silver in the 50-meter freestyle and the 4x100-meter freestyle relay.

.6a The navy blue jacket has a textured navy blue collar, a navy blue zipper going down the front, and red and navy striped sleeves. There is a white Nike logo on the proper right side of the chest. There is a circular logo on the proper left side of the chest. It is white with a thick red border. Inside the white circle there is a red, white, and blue American flags and the Olympic rings logo with five colors. In the red border there is arched white text which reads [UNITED STATES / OLYMPIC TEAM] with white stars. The fronts of the sleeves are textured red and navy striped with a red cuff. The back sides of the sleeves are a red net-like texture with navy underneath. The sides of the jacket are a navy net-like texture with red underneath. There is a pocket on either side of the jacket at the hip with blue zippers. The insides of the pocket zippers and the center zipper are red.
The center of the back side of the jacket has the navy net-like texture with red underneath. There are red letters going vertically down the back which read [USA].
Inside the jacket on the back of the neckline there is a white Nike label that reads [MADE IN ITALY]. The initials “SM” are handwritten in black ink. There is a white manufacturer’s label inside the jacket. It has black text and contains information about the materials and where it was made. The front of the label reads [Simone] handwritten in black ink.
.6b The navy sweatpants have a white Nike logo on the proper left thigh, textured horizontal lines along the knee, and zippered pockets on either hip. The zippers are navy and red. There are also textured vertical stripes going down the outer side of each leg and blue vertical zippers at the ankles. There is a drawstring at the waist. The back side of the pants features a net-like textured area at the top and near the knees with red underneath. The waistband and ankle cuffs have elastic.
There are two white manufacturer’s labels inside the sweatpants. The smaller label has a white Nike label that reads [MADE IN ITALY]. The initials “SM” are handwritten in black ink. The larger label has black text which featured information about materials and where it was made. It reads [Simone] in handwritten black ink. There is a smaller label above it with a series of letters and numbers with a black Nike logo.
