- A hardcover copy of Chaka: An Historical Romance by Thomas Mofolo. The book is an English translation of a mythical account of the 19th century warrior and monarch of the Zulu Kingdom, Shaka kaSenzangakhona (c. 1787 – 1828), also known as “Shaka Zulu," originally written in the Southern Bantu language Sotho. The front and back covers of the book are covered in dark blue fabric and are plain. The gold text printed on the book spine includes the book title, [CHAKA / An / Historical / Romance]; the author’s name, [MOFOLO]; [INTERNATIONAL / INSTITUTE / OF AFRICAN / LANGUAGES / & CULTURES] printed at the center; and the publisher’s name, [OXFORD] printed at the bottom. The book’s interior has white pages with black type. The book has one hundred and ninety-eight (198) pages. The name [W. Waldman] is written in red pencil on the front endpaper.
