- Description
- A document summarizing the procedure and sale of four enslaved persons, identified as [Banks, aged thirty years, Kitty aged nineteen and her child Lizzy aged three years, Octavo aged ten years], at auction from the estate of James Holly to his son, John D. Holly. The four people are sold for a total of $3,075 dollars in cash to John D. Holly, likely the son of James. The document notes that the auction was properly advertised in the Bayou Mason Times, printed in the town of Floyd in Carroll Parish, for thirty days before sale. The paper is machine-made, faux-laid paper with blue pigment tint; the color is faded and yellowed at edges and folds. The verso, which when folded appears as the cover, contains summary of the content and notes it was filed January 13, 1858.
