- A sepia tone carte-de-visit of Mrs. Elizabeth J. (Ball) Thomas, wife of photographer Alexander S. Thomas, sister of photographer James P. Ball.
- Captured against a light background, Elizabeth J. Thomas gazes towards the camera. Her dark wavy hair is pinned near her ears and she wears a striped dress with a bright lace pendant-collar. On the reverse of the photograph card are graphite inscriptions and a large imprint of the photographer’s information in black ink: [A. S. Thomas / 166 West Fifth Street / Cincinnati, O.]. The imprint is centered vertically on the depiction of a white scroll and surrounded by a floral motif.
