- Gail Anderson is a New York based designer and partner at Anderson Newton Design. Since 1987, Anderson has worked in the field of design at design firms, advertising agencies, and publications. Her work has received awards from major design organizations, including the Society of Publication Designers and the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). In 2008 she received a Lifetime Achievement Medal from the AIGA. Anderson currently works as Creative Director at the School of Visual Arts Press and is on the Citizen Stamp Advisory Committee for the US Post Office. In 2013, the US Postal Service commissioned Anderson to design the commemorative stamp for the sesquicentennial of the Emancipation Proclamation. Anderson was only the second African American designer tapped to design a commemorative stamp, the first being Georg Olden who designed the Proclamation’s 100th anniversary stamp in 1963.

- This is an exhibition brochure for the exhibition “Art as Witness: Political Graphics.” The front cover features a print designed by Gail Anderson. It has a white background with small, dense black text as a backdrop to large red text that reads “Art / as / Wit / ness / Political / Graphics / 2016-2018.” In the top right corner is a small red circle with petal-lobed edges. Within it is white text that reads “SVA / NYC.” As the bottom left corner in small red text are the words “Curated by: / Steve Brodner and Francis Di Tommaso.” The back cover features a political cartoon of Donald Trump on the upper half of the page. The lower half of the page has a memorial tribute to the artist, Robert Grossman. It includes a black and white photograph of him on the left margin and two paragraphs of small dense black text of his legacy as a cartoonist and the dedication of the exhibition to him. Within the brochure is a page that features another of Gail Anderson’s works. The upper half of the page depicts her print “THINK” while the bottom half of the page has a quote from the artist in black and red text that reads “”Artists are creating / an international/ rallying cry/ that/ cannot be ignored.” / Gail Anderson.”
