Description
A four page Spanish language manuscript handwritten in ink describing the sale of two enslaved men and a one house in colonial New Spain’s Cuidad de Los Angeles (today Puebla, Mexico). The first and fourth page are stamped with two seals in the upper left cover and have four lines of printed text as the heading. The left margin on all pages is left blank and there is minor wear around the pages. There are three documents all dated April 21, 1670 and are signed by public notary, Nicolas Álvarez.
The first page describes the bill of sale for Joseph, who is said to be 12 years old and crillo (born in the Americas) from Tepeaca. The enslaved boy was sold to Juan Sanchez de Aldana by Juan Morena for 200 common gold pesos (currency).
The second page describes the bill of sale for Salbador (Salvador), who is said to be 20 years old and crillo (born in the Americas). The enslaved young man was sold to Juan Morena by Juan Sanchez de Aldana for 300 common gold pesos (currency).
The third and fourth pages describe the bill of sale for a house in the city of Tlaxcala. The house was sold to Diego Ramirez from Joseph Gonsales Vaquero for 2,000 gold pesos (currency).
