- In 2000 Marlon St. Julien became the first African American to race in the Kentucky Derby in almost eighty years. This riding crop is from his illustrious career.
- Description
- This black leather riding crop was used by jockey Marlon St. Julien. The rod of the crop is thicker at the handle, which is wrapped in black rubber. Black adhesive tape is wrapped around the area where the handle and rod change in circumference. A black leather thong is attached at the opposite end of the rod from the handle using coils of tightly wound thread. White text reading "Wil" is stamped onto the rod where it meets the handle. Just below this text on the rod is a white paper label with black typed text reading "Marlon / St. Julien" that is secured to the rod with a length of clear adhesive tape.
