Description
A red, liturgical cope worn by Reverend Ike. The cloak-like garment is primarily constructed from red, damask silk woven with a repeating floral pattern and has a caplet made from the same material. The cope features two, wide, gold ribbon bands that run down either side of the front opening. Gold bands also accent the back side of the caplet and there is a single band running down the center of the back of the cope. At the front center of the caplet is an ornate gold clasp. Each end of the clasp features gold squares embellished with molded square crosses accented with lines. Attached to one side of the clasp is a short chain with a small hook at the end that fastens to the other half of the clasp to hold the cope closed. On the back of the caplet are three bands of gold ribbon running diagonally from the left and right shoulders and down the center of the caplet. Where the three bands meet is a large, embroidered, white dove over three embroidered gold rings. The dove is depicted from above with wings extended. It is embroidered with white, red, and gray thread. The three overlapping rings are embroidered with gold and outlined in red thread. The sides of the caplet are slightly rounded and come to a point at the bottom center. Attached directly to the bottom of the caplet is a small, molded, gold tone, clam shell ornament that holds three gold tassels. The interior of the cope is lined with ivory toned silk. Stitched to the back center of the neckline is a white tag with gray embroidered text that reads [VESTMENTS / BY / Lorenzo]. Embroidered text on the back of the tag reads [DRY CLEAN / ONLY].
