- Description
- A flier for Nubian Productions' "The Imperial Funk Machine" hip-hop event at the Bronx River Center, Saturday March 22, 1980. The flier is printed in black ink on pink paper, with several different decorative fonts, some handlettering, and various icons. Along the right side are two graphic illustrations: at top a DJ with star-shaped sunglasses pours from two "cereal boxes" with records on them into two "cereal bowls" atop turntables; at bottom, a wizard with a musical notes on his pointed hat and a Cheshire cat on his shoulder sits atop a throne with vinyl records. On the left side is the text, beginning at the top with the date, location, time, cover information, and "Nubian Production and KC Prods. present The Imperial Funk Machine." THe rest of the text lists the performers, each in a different decorative font: Funk Master Islam, DJ Superman, the Imperial Four MC’s, and the Grand Wizard Theodore with his Fantastic Five Em Cees: KevieKev, MasterRob, RubieDee, Whipper Whip and Dotarock. Printed in handlettered text at the bottom right is: "IS80 Flyer." There are no markings on verso.
