Description
Two hip-hop event fliers from December 1980 designed by Eddie Ed, stapled together. The top flier is for "The Bronx Dance-A-Thon Jam Disco" on December 13, 1980 at the Bronx River Center. The bottom flier is for "The Bronx Meets Queens Disco Jam" on December 19, 1980 at the T-Connection.
2020.54.4.1:The top flier has black ink on yellow paper and features an image of Wonder Woman at left. Oriented horizontally, the flier features multiple hand-lettered fonts. The text begins at the top with the event production, name, venue, date and time information and then continues with a list of performers: DJ Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Jazzy Jay, DJ Red Alert, Soul Sonic Force and Cosmic Force M.C.s, The Cold Crush Bro.'s, DJ Charlie Chase, DJ Tony Tone, Cold Crush 4 M.C.'s, G.M. Caz, Jerry D. Lewis, E-Z A.D., K-Gee, The Grand Wizard Theodore, Fantastic 5 MC's, Two Bad Systems of Powerful Funk, followed by a smaller list of "Invited D.J.s and M.C.'s." and cover information. At bottom left is "EDDIE-ED" and "Dedicated to Yvette." There are no marks on the verso.
2020.54.4.2: The bottom flier is black ink on cream-colored paper and no images. Oriented vertically, it features multiple hand-lettered fonts. The text begins at the top begins [Nubian Productions presents / the Bronx Meets Queens Disco Jam] and continues with a list of performers: DJ Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Jazzy Jay, DJ Red Alert, Soul Sonic Force M.C.s and Cosmic Force M.C.s, and "Special from Queens New York" the Disco Twins with D.J. M.C. Smalls and M.C. Nasty-Tee. The bottom half of the flier has venue, date, time and cover information, a list of "special invited D.J.s and M.C.'s" and public transit directions. At the bottom is [TWO SOUND SYSTEMS / A MUSICAL EXPLOSION]. At bottom left is [EDDIE - ED / THE FLYER MASTER!].
