- Description
- A color etching and aquatint composition featuring two separate depictions of abstract, sculptural female figures, each set within a geometric frame set against a golden yellow background. The top and largest illustration is rectangular and done in tones of blue and white. In it, a nude female figure is shown with her face turned in profile and her right hand held aloft, holding a white orb. She is set against a round background of geometric shapes. The second, smaller illustration is just below the first. It is tones of brown and black within a five-sided diamond shape. It depicts a nude, female figure leaning on a flat surface, her chin propped in one hand. In the background, another figure is visible over her shoulder. In the bottom left corner of the print is a rectangular, green epitaph with black writing that reads “Remembrance of Things Lost in Antiquity Continue to Haunt.” Handwritten in graphite beneath the image is [4/10 AP] at bottom left, the title [“Facets II”] at center, and the artist’s signature [Eldzier Cortor].
