- Description
- A black-and-white photograph, Untitled (Charles Peaker Street Speaker, head of ANPM after Carlos Cooks passed away, on 125th street), by Kwame Brathwaite. The photograph depicts Charles Peaker, the head of the African Nationalist Pioneer Movement (ANPM), standing on the corner of 125th Street, above a crowd of people. He is shown from the waist up, standing in profile, and facing the left edge of the photograph. He is wearing a dark shirt with two square metal pips at the collar and a patch over the top of his proper left arm and a leopard print, wedge cap. Behind him are two partially visible flags, including an American flag. The other flag has sign attached to the top that reads [BUY BLACK]. There are three partially visible people with their backs to the viewer, standing below Peaker, listening to him. On the left is a street sign with a partially visible sign that read [[1?]25th] and a parking sign on the right. The square shaped image has a thick white border. The back of the photograph is plain and white.
