Description
A digital print depicting a black-and-white image of three people participating in the 1964 New York City School Boycott. All three individuals are leaning against a metal barricade. The woman on the far left is looking to her proper right. She is wearing sunglasses, earrings, and a shirt with two buttons pinned on her proper left shoulder and her proper right chest. She is holding a piece of paper. The second woman is to proper left. She is wearing glasses with a shirt that has a button. On her proper left hand, she has a ring on her ring finger. She is holding a sign that reads [SEGREGATED / SCHOOL’S / BREEDS / RACIAL / HATRED] with both hands as she reads a document. The man to her proper left is wearing a dark colored suit with a white shirt and a polka dot tie. He is wearing glasses, holding his hat with his proper right hand, and has a button to the right of his breast pocket. With his proper left hand, he is holding a cigarette. Both hands are at waist level and hold a sign that reads [NO / MORE / SEGREGATED / EDUCATION].
At the right of the image is a sign being held by a fourth person who is out of frame. The partial sign, presumed to be in Spanish, reads [DEMAND.. / ESCU… / DE PR… / CLA… / AHOR…]
There are no inscriptions on the print, front or back.
