- Description
- A silver gelatin print depicting a black-and-white image of three girls with umbrellas in East New York City. Two of the girls are under one umbrella on the left while the third girl is under her own umbrella on the right. They are standing on a sidewalk with storefronts and buildings visible on the left side. Of the two young girls under the shared umbrella, the one on the most left is posed with a smile, her proper right hand under her chin, and wears a light-colored crewneck sweater, a skirt, and women’s loafers. The second girl on the right is holding the umbrella with her proper right hand while she holds a long stick, which she is biting, with her proper left hand. She is wearing a shirt with a stripped cardigan, patterned pants, and tennis shoes. The young girl with her own umbrella holds it with both hands. She is wearing a turtleneck shirt, a light-colored cardigan, pants, and pointed shoes.
- Frank Espada, the photographer, signed the photograph in the front, bottom right corner. The back of the photograph is inscribed with the photographer’s stamp and a white sticker with black ink.
