- This is a color photograph of the 1963 March on Washington by James P. Blair. It depicts a large crowd gathered between the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. In the foreground of the image are rows of seated men and women. In the first row is a woman in a blue and white checked blouse. She is wearing sunglasses and has her right arm raised in the air waving an American flag. Seated in the row behind her are two men. On the right-hand side, the man wears a white shirt under a dark blazer and dark pants with a dark tie and a metal tie clip. He has sunglasses and short-brimmed hat. On the left-hand margin is a man wearing a short sleeve white button-down shirt. He has a green bow tie at his throat and a brown hat on his lap. Out of focus in the background is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and the Washington Monument. The print is signed by the photographer at the lower left corner and labeled [6 of 9].
