- Description
- A black-and-white digital image of CEO and Head Designer of Sun Gods LaShawn Kenley taken by Remigio Newton. The image was taken on the Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, D. C., on June 6, 2020, the 12th consecutive day of national protests against police brutality and the murder of George Floyd on May 25th. In the image, Kenley is seated on the pavement, crisscrossed wearing a bright yellow flowy dress she designed. The long skirt of her dress drapes over her knees and onto the floor. She has her proper right wrist raised, adorned with several bracelets and two rings. Her proper left hand is resting on her left knee, holding pick with a black raised wrist as the handle and her hand adorned with rings. Near her to the right is a circular bag on the pavement. On her face, Kenley is wearing a mask she designed from left over fabric. In the background are protesters walking by. On the left is the partial view of a sign that reads [BL / LIV / MA], presumed to read “BLACK LIVES MATTER.”
