- This portrait of a young Clive Campbell was captured in Kingston, Jamaica. A copy of the photo was used in Campbell's passport, which he carried with him after his arrival in the United States in 1967. A few years later, he would adopt the name DJ Kool Herc, combining a popular cigarette brand ("Kool") with a school nickname inspired by his track-and-field skills ("Hercules").
