Description
A bone china yellow cup (a) and blue saucer (b) from the Wedgwood X Sheila Bridges collaboration, featuring the horses vignette from Bridges' Harlem Toile de Jouy design.
This set of a yellow cup and blue saucer depicts a scene of a young woman in 18th century clothing running in a field with horses. The round smooth-walled cup does not have a foot but sits directly on the saucer. It has a yellow background. The vignette, which wraps around the cup, depicts a woman wearing a dark pink dress running towards the viewer, her skirts pulled up with one hand and one leg extended in the air as she jumps over a log on the ground. Her knee length pantalettes and her shoes are light blue. Running behind her are two horses. A third horse can be seen against a fence in the background. Around the other side of the cup are three horses galloping in a field. On the bottom of the interior of the cup is a small brownish-red basketball. The cup is rimmed in black around the drinking edge and the handle edge. The saucer (b) is the traditional Wedgwood light blue around the flat edge and white in the center. Its rim is edged in black. On the underside of both cup and saucer is printed black text that reads “WEDGWOOD / X / SHEILA BRIDGES / Bone China / Dishwasher Safe.”
