- Description
- A white bone china teapot (a) with lid (b) from the Wedgwood X Sheila Bridges collaboration, featuring the picnic vignette from Bridges' Harlem Toile de Jouy design.
- The teapot has an oval body with straight vertical walls, with a simple half-oval handle at one short end and a slightly curved spout at the other. The pot is white, with a thin black edging along the top rim, the top of the spout, the edges of the handle, and the edge of the lid and lid handle.
- On one side is a picnic scene depicting a young man and woman in 18th century clothing having a picnic on the ground under a tree. The top of the tree continues onto the flat lid of the teapot. Her purple dress and his red trousers are the only spots of color in the otherwise black, grey and white design. She sits cross-legged, holding a fried chicken leg in both hands. He sits across from her, reaching towards the plate of food that is on the ground between them. Behind her is a whole watermelon and two cut pieces of watermelon. Behind him is a picnic basket.
- On the other side of the teapot is a second smaller vignette of individuals in 18th century clothing gathered around a table eating. Two men and two women are seated at the table, and one man stands next to the table with his hands on hips. The table and chairs appear to be set up outdoors, with tufts of grass around the table legs. In separate vignette is a large rooster with a piece of watermelon in front of it.
- An open picnic basket and two blue shoes are depicted on the bottom of the interior of the teapot. The underside of the teapot has is printed black text that reads “WEDGWOOD / X / SHEILA BRIDGES / Bone China / Dishwasher Safe.”
