- A hardcover book (a) with removable dust jacket (b) of The Taste of Country Cooking by Edna Lewis. This is a third printing, book club edition of the book. The cream-colored dust jacket cover features at center a color photograph of Lewis, outdoors amid blooming sunflowers, wearing a pink dress, and carrying a bowl of red tomatoes. Across the top in large black letters is [The Taste of / Country Cooking] and along the bottom [By Edna Lewis]. In white letters at the top left corner of the photograph is [She evokes the tantalizing aromas of a farm / kitchen She brings back the fresh, natural tastes / of the wonderful cooking she was raised on / in Virginia She shares old family recipes / in menus that / make the most of each season's bounty]. The back cover of the jacket is also cream with black text of the title and two blurbs, one by James Beard and one by M.F.K. Fisher. The book has an illustration of two rabbits on the title page and several reproduced prints by various artists throughout. It begins with dedications to "the memory of the people of Freetown" and editor Judith B. Jones. The recipes are organized by season, beginning with spring, and followed by an appendix, index, and a note on the author. There are 260 pages.
