Description
A mini zine from the Soul Garden of Neurodiversity Mini Zine Pack titled The Soul of Neurodiversity Zine Garden, designed by Jennifer White-Johnson. The mini zine is constructed from a single sheet of white, heavy weight paper that has a slit at the center and has been folded into eighths, creating a six page booklet. The front of the single page is divided into eight panels which form the six interior pages and the front and back covers. The back of the page is blank. In its folded format, the front cover is white and features a color illustration of a young girl. The girl is depicted inside an illustrated arch shape filled with space imagery with a nebula and stars, overlaid with cut outs of red carnations, and a reddish planet at the bottom center of the graphic which forms a halo around the illustration of the girl. The girl is shown from the shoulders up, facing the viewer, and smiling. She is wearing a peach tone T-shirt. Black text printed above the arch reads [THE SOUL OF NEURODIVERSITY ZINE GARDEN]. The back cover is white and centered at the top is a black shield graphic with white text that reads [WE MUST / NOT LET / ABLEISM / WIN]. Printed in small black text below are the designer credits and contact information. The interior pages include color graphics, black text, and illustrations. Page one features the definition of Neurodiversity/Neurodivergent by the National Symposium on Neurodiversity at Syracuse University, 2011. Page two is a color illustration of Knox Johnson. Like the front cover, Johnson is depicted inside an arch shape filled with starry space imagery, cut outs of blue flowers with yellow centers, and a reddish planet at the bottom center of the graphic which forms a halo around the illustration of Johnson. Johnson is facing the viewer, wearing a serious expression on his face, and his chin is propped on his fists. He is wearing a pair of red headphones and a reddish-brown shirt. The third and fourth pages feature a large graphic of two red carnations and black text that reads [ADVOCATE FOR / COMMUNITY / SUPPORT, / ACCESS, AND / ACCEPTANCE]. At the center of the fifth and sixth pages is the slogan of The Autistic Women & Non-Binary Network, [Neurodiversity is for Everyone] in large black text with the attribution printed below in small black text. The pages are accented with blue flowers with yellow centers of varying sizes.
