Description
A glass advertising Hazel Scott performances at L'Olympia. The cylindrical highball class is clear. It has a slightly wider rim that tapers inwards towards the base. Painted on one side of the glass is a green rectangular field with a thin, white rectangular frame. Painted inside the green rectangular field are several red and white banners as well as the name of the venue and advertised performers hand painted in white, red, and black text. At the top of the green field is a white framed, red oval bisected by a thin, white, triangular, banner. The name of the venue, [L’Olympia], has been hand painted in white at the top of the oval. Hand painted red text below inside the white banner reads […VOTRE MUSIC-HALL!]. Handwritten in the green areas just below the banner is white text that reads [Du 21 MARS /Au 9 Avril] on the left, and [Bruno[underlined] Coquatrix[underlined] / PRÉSENTE] on the right. Directly below is a large red banner, with the name of the headliner hand painted in white text that reads [GEORGES / GUETARY] with the names of two acts hand painted in the green field below in white text that reads [ALLAN KEMBLE / and CHRISTINE] on the left and [LATONA GRAHAM / and CHADELL[sic]]. At the center of the glass is a rectangular white banner with large, black hand painted text inside that reads [HAZEL SCOTT]. Painted in the green field below in large white text is the name [NINO RUBIO]. Below is a small white rectangular banner with black hand painted text that reads [Les 4 de Paris] with the name [LES MORWAY] hand painted in white in the green field below. Near the bottom is another rectangular white banner with large, red, hand painted text inside that reads [ODETTE LAURE]. At the bottom of the green field is a small red banner with small hand painted white text that reads [[Carmiliti?] MELLER] on the left. To the right of the small red banner in the green field is additional white text that reads [Simone MORIN]. The rest of the glass is plain clear glass.
