- Description
- A painting titled Janice by Alvin D. Loving, Jr. The acrylic painting is hexagonal in shape and depicts a hollow, three-dimensional cube with square cutouts. The illusory cube is primarily vivid yellow and each exterior and interior edge is shaded with three, thin bands of color that includes blues, black, pinks, purples, oranges, yellows, browns, and greens. The painting features three large diamond shapes nestled together to form illusion of the cube’s two exterior sides of the corner and the top of the cube. Several sides of the interior cutouts are painted light green, suggesting three-dimensional shaded areas. The verso of the painting is largely covered with irregular, white, geometric pieces of white foam board attached with screws. The top right back of the canvas is expose and the title of the piece, the correct orientation, the artist’s signature, and date are handwritten in green ink that reads, [Janice / ? / TOP] at the top, and [Alvin D. Loving Jr. / 1970] at the top right.
