- Description
- A screen print titled “Yes We Did!" by Shepard Fairey, celebrating the historic presidential electoral victory by Barack Obama in 2008. It was made in partnership with the organization, MoveOn.org. The poster uses the same color palette as Fairey’s famous “Hope” of red, beige, blue, and dark blue.
- The poster has three borders, from out to in they are beige, red, then a thick blue border decorated with beige lines At the top center of the poster against a blue banner and in white text is the phrase [YES WE DID]. Under the banner is the Barack Obama image popularized by Fairey’s “Hope” poster: a headshot of Obama from the chest up wearing a suit with a red tie.
- Obama’s proper left side of the face and background are red and the proper right side of his face is highlighted in white and shadowed with blue, the same color as the background. He is looking slightly up and into the distance. The image is in a circle and encircled with the text in white typology reading [UNITED WE PROGRESS TOWARDS A MORE PERFECT UNION]. Underneath the image is Obama’s campaign logo, a blue half circle representing the sun rising over a field made of red and white stripes. The red and white stripes are extended to the edge of the poster. The graphics are laid on top of an image of Obama addressing a crowd with someone holding a banner that reads [[Obama campaign logo] CHANGE].
- The bottom left corner has Fairey’s logo, and the bottom right corner has MoveOn.org’s log. There is a word typed vertically in white above each logo; [PEOPLE] above Fairey’s logo and [POWERED] above MoveOn.org’s logo. At the bottom of the poster against a blue banner and in white text is [TOGETHER WE MADE HISTORY / NOVEMBER 4TH 2008].
