Description
A framed black-and-white gelatin silver photograph titled “Dump Trump” by John Simmons. The photograph is an upward angle of a protester who has scaled a vertical traffic light pole with a traffic light and pedestrian light. The figure is holding onto the traffic light box with their left arm and using the pedestrian light box to stand on. Using their right arm, they are holding a sign, possibly a cushion, with the capitalized phrase painted on [DUMP / TRUMP]. At the end of the sign to the left appears a striped cloth, possible the United States of America flag. The person has their eyes close and their mouth open. They are wearing a light color shirt with dark pants, a sweater with black-line design wrapped around their waist, and a light color towel wrapped around their neck, hanging off to the side.
The print is signed by the artist in the front, lower right corner in black ink [John Simmons, ASC]. The location where the photograph was captured and year is handwritten in the front, lower left corner in black ink [Los Angeles, CA. 2016].
