- Description
- Amateur Athletic Union New Jersey (AAU NJ) gold medal for the 60 yard event awarded to Eulace Peacock in 1939. The medal is pentagonal, gold colored, and has a bezel. The top edge is rounded. The obverse of the medal is edged on each side with four (4) relief lines that frame the central figure. In the center of the medal is a relief depiction of the Greek god Hermes in profile, facing the left edge of the medal. Hermes is depicted from the neck up and is wearing a winged hat. Printed in relief around the central figure is the text [A.A.U], [N. / J.], and [ATHLETIC / DEVELOPMENT]. On the reverse of the medal, stamped at the top and in the center, is text that reads [1939 / 60 YD]. Along the bottom edge is a stamped maker’s mark that reads, [BRADSHAW / NEWARK / N.J.].
