- Description
- American Legion gold medal for a track and field event awarded to Eulace Peacock. The medal is gold colored, rectangular, and has a rectangular bezel with a jump ring. In the center of the obverse of the medal is a relief depiction of an athlete depicted in profile, crouching in a four point start position, and facing the left edge of the medal. In the background is a relief depiction of a building with columns. On the reverse of the medal is a circular, gold toned, American Legion emblem. The center of the emblem feature a wreath behind a five (5) point star. Inside the star is a set of inner rings with a line of dots between the rings. And inside the inner rings are the letter [U·S]. A blue enamel outer ring has block, gold text that reads, [AMERICAN / LEGION]. The edges of the emblem resembles a ten (10) ray sun. At the bottom of the medal is a stamped maker’s mark that reads, [C.D. REESE / [crescent moon symbol] R / NEW YORK / GOLD / FILLED].
