Description
A New York Athletic Club medal awarded to Eulace Peacock on February 17, 1940 for the 60 Yard Sprint Scratch event. The medal consists of a gold toned bar pin holding a red and white striped ribbon attached to a medal. The pin has a safety pin closure on the back and a bar that holds the ribbon. The ribbon is crimped to the front of the bar at each corner. Attached to the bottom of the ribbon is a silver colored medal held in place with two (2) jump rings. The silver medal is clover shaped and has a round jump ring threaded through the top that is attached to the jump ring hanging from the bottom of the ribbon. In the center of the obverse of the medal is a relief depiction of a laurel branch and a winged foot. Printed in relief below the winged foot is the text, [NYAC]. On the reverse of the medal is relief text around the edges of the medal that reads [· INDOOR GAMES · FEB. 17TH 1940 ·]. Engraved in the center, is text that reads [60 YD. SPRINT / SCRATCH]. Along the bottom edge is a stamped maker’s mark for R. Stoll Inc., [R. STOLL INC. N.Y.]. To the right of the mark is the stamped hallmark, [STERLING].
