- Description
- Newark Board of Education Invitation Track Meet third place medal for the 100 Yard event awarded to Eulace Peacock in 1937. The medal consists of a gold colored bar pin holding an orange and blue ribbon attached to a medal. The gold tone pin is rectangular shaped with a “C” clasp closure on the back. The ribbon is crimped to the front of the bar at each corner. Attached to the bottom of the ribbon is a rectangular, bronze colored medal held in place with two (2) jump rings. The obverse of the medal has a relief rectangular frame. Inside the frame is a relief depiction of an athlete depicted in a runner’s starting position on a track. He is crouched down with his hands on the ground in front of him, his proper left knee bent and placed between his elbows. His body faces the left edge of the medal. Above his head is a relief text that reads [NEWARK / BD. OF ED.]. Below the runner is additional relief text that reads [INVITATION / TRACK MEET]. On the reverse of the medal, stamped at the top is the text [1937 / 3RD / 100 YD.]. Below are engraved numerals [III]. Along the bottom edge is a stamped maker’s mark for Murchison that reads [MURICHSON / NEWARK].
