- Description
- Pin award from the Philadelphia Cotillion Society. The award, "The Diamond Cross of Malta," was presented to Mary Church Terrell in 1953. The pin is gold-filled. There is white and blue enamel on the cross sections and center detailing. There are diamond accents between each piece. [PHILADELPHIA COTILLION SOCIETY] is printed in gold on the circular blue enamel around the seal of the city of Philadelphia. The back of the award has a pin closure. In the center [DR. MARY CHURCH TERRELL / DECEMBER 30, 1953] is engraved. At the top are engravings for the maker, Bailey Banks & Biddle.
