This streamer belonged to General Colin Powell and was awarded during his time as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal is awarded to Marines who have landed on foreign shores and participated in combat operations against enemy forces, where no other medal was awarded.
Campaign streamers, also called battle streamers, are attached to military flags to recognize participation in a military event or the award of a military commendation.
Description
A Marine Corps Expeditionary streamer owned by General Colin L. Powell. This forked lengthy rayon battle streamer was awarded to General Powell for his leadership in United States military operations during his time as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The streamer is designed with double-sided horizontal colors featuring a red threaded border, gold background, and center dark red stripe. A brass grommet hole for hanging is positioned at the center top end of the streamer. There are no additional details on the reverse of the streamer.
