This chair was used by General Colin Powell during his time as Secretary of State. Powell was the first African American Secretary of State. He served under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005.
Description
A leather armchair used by 65th United States Secretary of State, General Colin L. Powell. This large, brown high-backed chair features is trimmed with brass nailheads. It has a wide and deep seat, two high curved arms, and four wooden legs. On the top back of the chair is a brass-colored metal plate engraved with the words, “SECRETARY OF STATE / JANUARY 20, 2001”.
