The large round enamel innermost face of this emblem features the traditional white and navy blue of the naval armed forces. A brass eagle with outstretched wings is perched on the top edge of the United States Stars and Stripes coat of arms shield, which has red, white, and blue enamel, and thirteen (13) stars. The Navy’s crossed sabers and rope-wound ship anchor overlay the shield. A silver chain motif is present on the larger area of the circular emblem, creating a round wheel or border over two (2) engraved brass stars. The engraved words read “UNITED STATES / NAVY”.
