The black spine displays the book title, author, and publisher name with logo, printed horizontally in gold text. There are no markings on the front and back covers. The jacket front is a large portrait photograph of Secretary Rice against a black background. She wears a cream beaded necklace, earring, and black top. Large gold and white text across the bottom half of the cover reads: [A Memoir / of My Years / in Washington / No Higher Honor / CONDOLEEZZA / RICE]. The spine of the jacket features the same text and photograph as the cover. Throughout the book are black-and-white and color photographs and the last page is numbered at 766. On the first blank page of the book, inscribed and signed on a large white custom author’s label, is a note from Secretary Rice to General Colin L. Powell, “For Colin & Alma / With deep admiration / Condoleezza Rice”. On the reverse of the black jacket is a quote by Secretary Rice above a square color photograph of her with a raised hand to speak before a room of politicians. The quote in white text reads, “TODAY’S HEADLINES AND HISTORY’S JUDGMENT ARE / RARELY THE SAME. IF YOU ARE TOO ATTENTIVE TO / THE FORMER, YOU WILL MOST CERTAINLY NOT DO THE / HARD WORK OF SECURING THE LATTER.”
