This ribbon rack shows many of the awards and medals that were issued to General Powell throughout his distinguished military career. One notable exception is the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, which according to precedence would be displayed in the top left corner of the ribbon rack. General Powell was awarded this medal four times between 1981 and 1993 for exceptionally meritorious service contributing to the national security or defense of the United States while serving with the Department of Defense.
Description
One (1) large U.S. Army ribbon rack worn by General Colin L. Powell. This highly decorated ribbon rack holds fourteen (14) United States military service ribbons across five rows and three columns The ribbons denote the following service awards in order of precedence: Distinguished Service Medal (Army); Defense Superior Service Medal; Legion of Merit with one (1) oak leaf; Soldier's Medal; Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; Air Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal with two (2) oak leaves; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon with silver metal block letter "2"; Vietnam Campaign Medal with silver metal banner. When worn on the Army Service uniform jacket, this rack is attached at the proper left chest above the breast pocket.
