- 2nd Lt. Colin Powell attended the Army Airborne Course, also called "jump school," at the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia. He successfully completed the course on 19 December 1958 and was awarded the Army Parachutist Badge, also called "jump wings."

- One (1) U.S. Army Parachutist Badge worn by General Colin L. Powell. This black (subdued) metal pin depicts an open parachute in the center of two wings that curl upward and has two brass metal backings. General Powell earned his "Jump Wings" after graduating from Army Airborne School in 1958. When worn on the military service uniform, the pin is attached at the proper right side of the proper left breast pocket flap.
