- The Links, Incorporated is an invitation-only social and service organization of prominent Black women in the United States founded in 1946. Etta Moten Barnett was the first honorary member of The Links, and was later invited to become an active member of the North Shore Illinois chapter.
- Description
- This is a cut glass box (a) with a small pewter statue of a bison on its lid (b). The glass box is square with its four corners delineated by deep carved decorative channels in the glass. There is a channel along the right and left exterior edge of the box, and two second parallel channels about a centimeter inside the edge. There is a single channel along the front and back exterior of the box, about a centimeter inside the edge. On top of the lid (b) is a pewter statue of a bison with text embossed in the statue base that reads “FINE PEWTER.” There is a black plaque on the front of the box that is split into two section, top section on the front of the lid (b) and bottom section on the box (a). The plaque has text that reads “LINK / ETTA MOTEN BARNETT / LINKING IN FRIENDSHIP / BUFFALO, NEW YORK / 3-9-91.”
