Highlights from the Event

Join us for a docent-led tour to get a fresh look into the Museum's featured object. At each of these 15-minute talks visitors will hear incredibly big stories about a big object.

About this Program:  Some athletes have been symbolic figures of Black ability, while others have taken their activism beyond the court to the courtroom, boardroom, and the newsroom.  Find out what occurred during the 1968 at the Summer Olympics in Mexico City when sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlos clenched their fists in protest during the medal ceremony after winning the gold and bronze medals for the 200-meter sprint.
