Montgomery is pictured standing in front of a wass with a mural of boats on open water.
He is wearing a white collared shirt, a light colored suit jacket, black pants, a black tie, and has a dark colored pocket square. He is standing on a stage behind a microphone. His body is turned towards the proper left side. An inscription on the back reads: [MONK MONTGOMERY / b. 1921 - d. 1982 / 1st SIGNIFICANT ELECTRIC JAZZ BASSIST.].
